Double Rainbow Café

If Dorothy could taste this café's rich, dreamy chocolate pie, she'd probably be imagining an Oz somewhere over double rainbows. This is the first East Coast outpost of the well-known San Francisco ice-cream shop; the wonderful homemade desserts (around $3 each) change daily but often include chocolate-chip-cookie pie, apple pie, lemon-orange mousse torte, and an extensive selection of ice cream shipped out from California.

Small, cozy, casual, and very close to the Copley Cinema, the Double Rainbow Café also serves lots of sandwiches and salads. Try the turkey-and-veggie pita stuffer ($4.99) or the penne with grilled chicken, tomatoes, and spices ($5.49).

The Double Rainbow Café, located on the second floor of Copley Place, is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; on Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight; on Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight; and on Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Call 262-5559.
