Muscat love

1995 Edna Valley Vineyard Muscat Canelli

by Thor Iverson

Before the summer draws to a close, invite some friends over and celebrate the season with this refreshing white wine. Muscats are usually dry, ultra-sweet, or slightly effervescent (depending on where they're from), but this low-alcohol summer sipper tastes like a bowl of tangerines, apples, and oranges sprinkled with a bit of honey and nutmeg -- in other words, just a bit sweet. Drink it by itself as an apéritif, or with heavily sauced white fish and potatoes roasted with fresh herbs. It's just $11.25 at the Brookline Liquor Mart, 1354 Comm Ave, in Allston.
