Rough terrine

D'Artagnan Terrine Mousquetaire

A terrine is a mixture of ground meats and spices that most people would look at and instantly think "pâté." Though the two words are often used interchangeably, a terrine is a specific type of pâté which is made in a container lined with pork fat. No wonder it tastes so good.

This American-made terrine is "country-style," meaning it's a chunky mixture of meats, producing a bread-topper that's more sliceable than spreadable. This version is made with duck, pork, and prunes, and is flavored with a hint of the fine French brandy Armagnac. A 9.5-ounce container is $6.59 at most specialty stores and some supermarkets.
