American Flatbread Pizza

Noshing & Sipping by Nancy Kalajian

You could easily win a bet with this frozen pizza. My family assumed I had just bought it at one of Boston's boutique restaurants until I showed them the box. The pizza's made in Waitsfield, Vermont (think Sugarbush!), at Flatbread Kitchen, which opens as a restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings. In addition to cheese and herb, which fooled the home crowd, there are two other superb toppings: sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms and "Revolution" -- a blend of tomato sauce, onions, cheese, mushrooms, and herbs. The pizza's already fully cooked, so you can just heat and serve. Available at Bread & Circus, Star Market, Wild Harvest, and Nature's Heartland, flatbread pizzas cost between $7 and $8.
