Andale
Mexican that means business
BY ATTICUS FISHER
Previous Columns

Tucked into one corner of the 125 Summer Street office building, Andale is the newest addition to a welcome Mexican-food mini-renaissance occurring in the Financial District, an area not known for taking risks, whether culinary or financial. Along with Real Taco and Herrera’s, Andale is doing its best to lend a bit of ˇolé! to the business-as-usual business lunch.

And if you’ve been to Olé Mexican Grill, you have a good idea what to expect: Andale is billed as the "on the go" version of its sister restaurants in Arlington and Cambridge. We went, and found the burritos ($6.25) in vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. We chose the latter, with the grilled-vegetable option (you can also select from portobello mushrooms, poblano peppers, or mashed potatoes). The good-size burrito had an even balance of pico de gallo, mushrooms, firm black beans, squash, tomatoes, rice, and tasty potatoes packed into a durable flour tortilla. The nachos supremos ($4.25) and chicken-mole enchiladas ($6.95) were also solid performers. But the star by far was the Ricardo’s chicken quesadilla ($6.25): heap white-meat chicken, cheese, red onion, jalapeños, mushrooms, pico de gallo, and fresh cilantro on top of a flour tortilla, and you’ve got a power lunch.

Andale has only counter-style seating for 10 in a small space, so don’t expect much face time with the boss while you’re at lunch. But the welcoming bright-orange walls — along with good Mexican food — offer a bright spot in an otherwise gray all-business environment.

Andale, located at 125 Summer Street, in Boston, is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (617) 737-1057.
