If rock and roll truly is about the hip shakin’, then it seems the St. Amore Bakery doesn’t want us to feel weighed down. Its Rocks n’ Rolls French munching cookies are low-fat, low-cholesterol, and low-sugar — but like a good garage band, these cookies make the most of what they’ve got, with eight all-natural flavors including chocolate-peanut-butter and lemon-vanilla. CEO and native Frenchman Daniel Nicholas concocted the cookies, shaped as asymmetrical bites (rocks) and wheels (rolls), from his Aunt Hélène’s recipe. " We never thought they’d sell, " he says, " but now we’re moving to a larger facility. " How do you say rock on in French?

Available at Trader Joe’s for $2.49 for a 10-ounce package.

Issue Date: May 9 - 15, 2003
