Sander Kleinenberg
ESSENTIAL MIX
(FFRR)

Stars graphics

Eastern Holland’s Sander Kleinenberg first came to the wider house-music public’s attention in the usual way for DJs: by seeing his mixes included in Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez sessions and on various dance compilations. In addition, DJ Jonathan Peters’s debut CD included Kleinenberg’s remix of Ben Shaw featuring Adele Holness’s "So Strong."

Kleinenberg’s second CD is lusher in tone than last year’s NuBreed 4. True to the techno tradition of Netherlands disco, he features light, trancy instrumental songs like Bluephase’s "The Bell," Filterheadz’ "One Who Got Caught," and Fimpalist’s "Istanbul" and complex Euro stuff like Redanka’s "Out of the Dark." This time, however, he includes more fleshy beats and soulful vocals, with the likes of Peace Division’s "Seriously Twisted," Ericke + Matthew Dekay’s "This Category," "Funky Green Dogs’ "Burnin’ Up," and Stefano Greppi’s "Elektro Pop: Original Mix." These tracks place Kleinenberg in the mainstream of deep underground house music, and with a beat structure identifiably his: spacy like all Euro, as sexy as the most maximum of diva styles, and as thick in texture as super-premium ice cream.
