EMINEM
EMINEM PRESENTS THE ANGER MANAGEMENT TOUR
AFTERMATH

So much ink’s been spilled over Eminem’s myriad controversies that you might not have noticed this dude makes some seriously weird career moves. After he spent the better part of 2004 denying retirement rumors linked to his suicide-themed "Encore," it appears he’ll be . . . retiring. Or at least taking a break. He won’t confirm. But before he makes like Kiss and finishes up a possibly/maybe/kinda final tour, he’s dropped this live DVD document of his second Anger Management Tour’s final night supporting 2002’s The Eminem Show in his home town of Detroit. Like most concert DVDs, Anger Management is a fans-only affair that does nothing to further the artist’s musical legacy. Rather, it’s Em chewing the huge, fluorescent circus stage scenery, acting his cartoonish self, and running through hits with D12, his squad of mediocre MCs, at his side. The crowd eats it up, of course. And whether he’s being ironic or not, it’s unsettling to see an arena full of suburban teens get led in a chant of "White America!" Maybe Marshall should take a cue from Jay-Z — rest a while and get his grown man on.
