COME ON, FEEL THE CALIFORNIA
Take it away, Sufjan Stevens

"O! Arnold: Our Fine-Feathered Foreign [sic] Friend Who, Despite The Public’s Misgivings Concerning His Qualifications, Became, In Quite The Expedient Manner, A Night Beaming Golden God-Head For Dear Old C.A."

Stereogum.com reader JT imagines a song title on a Sufjan Stevens record about California. After Stevens’s most recent state-themed record Illinois (which followed Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lakes State) was christened Top Album of the Year by the likes of Pitchforkmedia.com (and featured songs with titles like "A Conjunction Of Drones Simulating The Way In Which Sufjan Stevens Has An Existential Crisis In The Great Godfrey Maze"), Stereogum.com polled readers about which state they wanted Stevens to pick next in his 50-states project. California finished first. Massachusetts finished eighth with 81 votes, behind New York (#2), New Jersey (#4), and Oregon (#3).
