Star-Lite II

There are many disturbing things about this ad from the July 2, 1974 issue of the Phoenix. The drawing of the urbane sophisticate in the black turtleneck, with the self-assured smirk and helmet hair. The photo of the little boy wearing a truly horrifying ensemble: corduroy jacket, plaid shirt, and gingham bow tie. Who dressed this child? Is he supposed to be seated on the lap of the Sophisticated Man? Or is the Sophisticated Man a ventriloquist? Either way, the kid looks like a dummy. One thing this ad teaches us about the Seventies- " stylized haircutting " equals bowl cut.
