Restaurant Index

Aquitaine

569 Tremont St., Boston, (617) 424-8577.

Seth Woods build on the success of Metropolis Cafe with this all-French bistro that reminds us how good foie gras and truffles can be. Hanger steak and fries are so deeply flavored with truffle demiglace they seem almost cheap at $22; same for the duck-and-foie-gras ravioli (served only on Mondays). You'll barely recognize the old space of Botolph's on Tremont, now sleek and dark and woody; the crowd is huge and so is the somewhat pricey wine list. Also try the suburban outpost, Aquitaine Bis, in Chestnut Hill.
