Our smallest state has some of the best beaches on the East Coast,
including many town-run areas. For example, Goosewing Beach, off Rte. 77
in Little Compton, has a dazzling stretch of white-sand beach, backed up
against rolling green pastures and an 18th-century dairy farm. Napotee
Point, off Rte. 1 in Watch Hill, adjoins a beautiful summer-cottage town
with antique stores and funky boutiques. Listed below are some of the
larger and more popular beaches, all open daily until Labor Day. Call
