[Art museums]
Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, 87 Marshall St., North Adams, MA, (413) 664-4481. Located in a converted 19th-century factory, the museum covers 13 acres. Its enormous unobstructed indoor spaces, irregular courtyards, elevated walkways, and industrial buildings are ideal for pieces that are seldom exhibited because of their large size. Open daily (except for Tues.) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission $6, $4 for students and seniors, $2 for children 6 through 16.

Ongoing, "Sound Art @ MASS MoCA"; and "Visitations," a work by sound artist and composer Ron Kuivila based on the voices of the Sprague Electric Co. It's composed of archival and contemporary sounds projected into the alley alongside the former machine shop.

Through Nov., "Uberorgan by Tim Hawkinson," a massive installation made up of 13 translucent bus-sized bags reminiscent of body organs. Each of the enormous inflated bladders plays a single tone. Together, the clustered bladders, some on the floor and some suspended in air, form a "biomorphic sound machine" that continuously plays music drawn from a variety of sources.

Through Feb., "Mona Hatoum: Domestic Disturbance," an exhibition of 15 new works of sculpture, installation, and video focusing on a "threatening, yet darkly comical, kitchen implement."

Through April, "Game Show," an exploration of how artists have adapted game structures and themes in their work, with pieces by Sophie Calle, Mel Chin, Perry Hoberman, Matthew Ritchie, Natalie Bookchin, Christian Jankowski, Uri Tzaig, Christoph Draeger, Jarvis Rockwell, and Chris Finley.

June 15 through Sept., "Oyvind Fahlstrom," a retrospective.

June 15 through Dec., "Fluxus Games from the Gilbert and Lila Silverman Collection, " a companion exhibition to "Game Show."
