  Black Rock State Park, Rte. 6, two miles west of Thomaston, CT, (860) 283-8088. The 443-acre park includes a large wooded trail system leading to a view of the river valley and offers pond swimming, fishing, hiking, picnicking, a concession stand, a dumping station, and 96 campsites with hot showers and flush toilets. Fee $10.
