  Chatfield Hollow, 1.5 miles west of Killingworth on Rte. 80, CT, (860) 424-3200. A heavily wooded 356-acre hollow with natural caves and a pond. Picnicking, fishing, swimming, field sports, and hiking. Toilets, telephone, changing rooms, and drinking water are all available. Open daily from 8 a.m. to a half-hour before sunset. Admission $8 on weekends, $5 on weekdays for out-of-state vehicles.
