| | Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Rd. (Rte. 5), Smithfield, RI, (401) 949-5454. This 100-acre refuge houses the headquarters of the Rhode Island Audubon Society and its gift shop. Bird-feeding station, gift shop, hiking trails, and library are all available. Refuge open Mon. through Fri. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sat. from noon to 4 p.m. Trails open daily from sunrise to sunset. Free.
