TUESDAY, MAY 15 2001     The Skinny, 625 Congress St., Portland, ME, (207) 871-8983. One of Portland's hippest night spots, located outside of the Old Port in the heart of the Arts District. Formerly a porn theater, now gutted and renovated, it provides the best sight lines in Portland with a floor that slopes toward the raised stage. They bring in local, regional, and national acts, sometimes seven nights a week, and there's no way of telling what the genre might be, anything from country to hardcore, both 21+ and all-ages. The bar is also open daily with a happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Doors may open earlier or later depending on the whim of the bands. $1 to $20 cover.
