  Fort Williams Park Museum at Portland Head Light, 1000 Shore Rd., Cape Elizabeth, ME, (207) 799-2661. Portland Head Light, the oldest light house in the United States, was originally commissioned by George Washington. Accompanied by Fort Williams, it is one of the most beautiful and popular attractions in Maine. From 295 in Portland take Rte. 77 south to South Portland. Go left on Broadway, then right on Cottage Road. Cottage Road becomes Shore Road at the Cape Elizabeth town line. Park open sunrise to sunset; free. Museum open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission $2, children $1.
