  Nickels-Sortwell House, Corner of Main and Federal Sts. (Rte. 1), Wiscasset, ME, (207) 882-6218. Built in 1807 by ship owner and trader Captain William Nickels, the house's architecture, particularly its elegant facade, recalls the period of maritime prosperity in which it was built. The house has been refurbished in the Colonial Revival manner. Tours offered on the hour. Open Wed. through Sun. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission $5.
