  John Brown House, 52 Power St. (at Benefit St.), Providence, RI, (401) 331-8575. Built in 1786 by merchant, slave trader, and privateer John Brown. Completely restored with original and period furnishings, the house is a three-story Georgian mansion. Open Tues. through Sat. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sun. from noon to 4 p.m. Admission $6, $4.50 for seniors and students, $3 for children 7 through 17, $15 for families.
