Best place to put it all in perspective

Workin' for the Man bringing you down? Stressed about your annoying roommate, your shaky finances, your subpar grades? Head to the Park Street T station. Walk northeast on Tremont Street for a few yards, and swing a left into the Old Granary Burying Ground, which has been sitting at this spot for almost 350 years. The graveyard -- the last resting place for luminaries like Paul Revere, Peter Faneuil, John Hancock, and Sam Adams -- is the perfect place to put your problems in perspective. Hushed despite its downtown location, shaded by a host of towering trees, and filled with reminders (often morbid -- check out that gravestone art!) of where we're all headed, a five-minute stroll through the Granary Burying Ground can be, oddly enough, a genuinely uplifting experience. Re-emerge into the 21st century, and your mundane problems will seem less troubling. You'll also have a heightened appreciation for the good stuff it's all too easy to overlook.

Old Granary Burial Ground, Bromfield and Tremont Streets, Boston.
