Best cup of joe for you -- and Farmer Joe It's been around for only four months. But already, the Sustainable Cup, the Roslindale-based micro-coffee-roaster, has attracted a loyal -- and growing -- clientele. The reasons are simple: first, the Sustainable Cup has damn good coffee; and second, it imports directly from indigenous farmers rather than those greedy middlemen. The fledgling operation, owned by two java junkies, Scott and Ivy Anthony, deals solely in "fair-trade certified" beans from the best coffee regions in the world -- Mexico, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, East Timor, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea. The list goes on. The couple began selling their wares at the Roslindale Farmers' Market last July. Now that the seasonal market has ended, the Anthonys, both of whom hold day jobs, have set up a Web site (www.sustainablecup.com), where you can order any bean variety online. If you happen to live in Roslindale or Jamaica Plain, you get an special bonus: free delivery on Saturdays. (Delivery for other Boston-area residents is available for a fee.) If all this isn't enough to convince you to switch brands of java juice -- and help out Third World growers in the process -- we don't know what is.
