Six months ago it was hard to conceive of a world without Nomar Garciaparra. But within weeks of his traumatic trade to the Chicago Cubs, Red Sox nation didn't seem all that weepy about losing the guy who'd been the face of the Sox for the past several years. (It must've been hell for the Red Sox promo department to get rid of all the Nomah-related ads and billboards that first week of August.) But with Nomar and his wrist/hamstring/groin now giving the Cubbies headaches, and the Red Sox having won the World Series without him, it's difficult to imagine the Sox even putting in a bid for the once-iconic shortstop now that he's become a free agent.
