Best place for a haircut
The styles, cuts, and colors at Judy Jetson vary as widely as the décor adorning the walls and dangling from the ceiling. Entering this haven of hip, a Cambridge trendsetter since 1987, is like walking into a 3-D art-history lesson: the styles represented among the curios and ornaments include pop art, prim Victorian, medieval mod, and Devo-esque retro-industrial, to name a few. Whether your personal preferences lean toward rock band, Hollywood hip, or cosmopolitan chic, one of Judy's 10 stylists will shear and shape your tresses to suit.
A bit more uniform in interior design, but hardly in the designs its stylists produce, is James Joseph Salon, the Newbury Street hotbed of hairstyle where both funky fashionistas and folks with more conventional inclinations flock. The high ceilings with suspended mirrors give the salon a distinctive gallery feel, and the rows of bottles, lotions, gels, and conditioners are artfully arranged as if for Andy Warhol to paint. And once you're in the chair and the stylists put their fingers to your head, it's pure art indeed.
