Best way to survive a cold winter without Sox
It's often said that Sox fans are the best, most passionate, most well-informed in baseball, and a glance at the multitudes of Red Sox message boards, blogs, and chat rooms out there bears it out; if you're anything like we are, you'll be logging copious hours on 'em this winter as you bide your time until pitchers and catchers report. On the Remy Report (TheRemyReport.com), beloved broadcaster Jerry Remy's ragtag group of raucous fans will be talking trades and acquisitions all winter long. The Soxaholix (Soxaholix.com) is a funny blog, presented via foul-mouthed clip-art office drones (inspired by David Rees's Get Your War On comic strip) who dish daily about all things Sox. Boston Dirt Dogs (BostonDirtDogs.com) offers off-color commentary and Photoshopped chuckles, and will keep you apprised of all the sizzling developments following this hot-stove season. Best of all is Sons of Sam Horn (SonsofSamHorn.com), the no-nonsense message board representing the vanguard of Boston fandom. The site requires membership to post, but its discussion threads - featuring reams of stats (Sabermetric and otherwise) and good-natured arguments between whip-smart fans who feel equally comfortable quoting Def Leppard and Dr. Johnson - are there to be read for your edification. It's a safe bet that Curt Schilling himself will be posting on SoSH occasionally this off-season (screen name: gehrig38) as he waits for spring training along with the rest of us.
