Best upscale sports bar
With the Red Sox and the Patriots generating so much excitement this fall, legions of locals are becoming full-time sports fans. However, you don't have to give up a sophisticated night out just because your plans now revolve around your favorite team.

At Stadium, a polished new sports bar in Southie, there's no need to crowd around the bar for a good view of the game. With more than 30 flat-screen televisions mounted throughout the establishment, you can keep tabs on the score whether you're curled up in a leather booth or fixing your makeup in the bathroom.

The food, which includes sandwiches and a build-your-own-appetizer plate, is far tastier than typical bar fare. And there is a solid menu of martinis and other cocktails in addition to the expected draft beers.

Stadium, 232 Old Colony Avenue, South Boston, (617) 269-5100.
